Getting It Write Questions… & Answers
Q: Why are you only open to writers who want to go the
independent or self-published route?
A: Writers who chose independent (Pint on Demand included) over traditional publishing
have some different needs not usually addressed in groups that
welcome all writers. Some of those needs involve finding the
right press, hiring professional editors, designing covers, and
being fully in charge of marketing. I am by no means encouraging
writers to belong to one group exclusively. I do however feel a
need in my own life to share the writing journey with
like-minded authors who know independent publishing is part of
God’s plan for them.
Q: How do we communicate?
A: For now, via the blog.
Q: Will there be critique groups?
A: Yes...in time as trust is built I hope groups will start up naturally. Trying to assign people to people is difficult and often doesn't work. If you are looking for a critique partner or group, let me know and I'll get your request out to folks on the blog. There will be suggested guidelines posted later on this site to guide and encouage you. While writing is often a solitary endeavor, it shouldn't be a lonely one.
Q: How many copies of the Teaching Topics can I have and can I share them with other writers who aren't a regular part of Getting It Write?
A: You can have as many copies of the information shared on this site as you want. Everything here is meant to be shared generously with all writers.
Q: If I'm seeking traditional publishing can I still be part of Getting It Write?
A:Yes. As long as you remain open-minded and encouraging to writers whose publishing path is different than your own.
Q:Can I submit articles for consideration for the Pathways to Publishing newsletter?
A: Yes. Joy will post a requst from time to time for you to submit your work for consideration. She will let you know where to send submissions, topics, and word lengths. This is a non-paying publication.
Q: If I want to buy a book written by one of the authors in the library, how is that handled?
A: You will be sent to their website and order from them directly. You can be in touch with them and ask for an autorgraphed copy as well.
Q: What motivated you to start this site?
A: My own needs initiated the idea. Then, I heard from other writers who were longing for the same kind of place to hang out online now and then. As I prayed, my request was...please help me find this site...He responded...build the kind of site you would love to visit. So, I did.
